Enrolment for the “Advanced course” for opera singers of the Fondazione Teatro Comunale di Modena is open. Applications for admission must be submitted by November 10, 2019. The fulltime course will take place at The Teatro Comunale Luciano Pavarotti in Modena from January to May 2020. Enrolment and attendance at the course are free of charge.
The course, inspired in 2016 by Mirella Freni, has established itself internationally and combines classroom training with experience on stage. Among the instructors are a number of illustrious world-class opera singers such as Leone Magiera, Mariella Devia, Barbara Frittoli, Chris Merritt and Thomas Allen. The course ends every year in a concert with orchestra, broadcast in live streaming. Students of former courses have been involved regularly in the lyrical productions of the Opera House. Every year on October 12th the best students, together with those of Raina Kabaivanska, take part in the symphonic opera concert on the occasion of Luciano Pavarotti’s birth.
The course is organized in the context of Modena Città del Belcanto, the project aimed at enhancing the lyrical tradition of Modena in which Luciano Pavarotti, Mirella Freni and Leone Magiera were born.
The course, as well as meals, are totally free of charge. At the end of the course, two scholarships of €2,500 will be awarded by the industrial and service group Finmasi Group, based in Modena.

The Luciano Pavarotti Opera is proud to do its part in bolstering excellence in opera production and training.
The Opera regularly provides master classes for opera singers, with internationally renowned teachers and students from all over the world. In 2017 the course was taught by Mirella Freni while in 2019 among its teachers were Mariella Devia, Leone Magiera, Nicola Martinucci and Michele Pertrusi.
