Master Class for 12 opera singers

Teatro Comunale “Luciano Pavarotti” in Modena, Italy: JUNE 2017 (4 week-ends)

Cost: 1,000 euros. Free for the best two candidates
The course is open to 12 singers. Candidates must be older than 18 y.o. No age limits. Ms. Freni will teach vocal technique and interpretation to advanced opera singers during a 4 week-ends, career launching experience.
Master Classes will start on June 3 ending on June 25 with the following calendar:
Saturday 3 – Monday 5
Friday 9 – Sunday 11
Friday 16 – Sunday 18
Friday 23 – Sunday 25
Each 3-day session of classes at Teatro Comunale will be divided between coaching with pianists in the morning and lessons with Ms. Freni in the afternoons.
(Singers will be provided with a studying space during the rest of week).

The application form must be submitted by April 30 through e-mail only at

Live audition
Candidates who pass the selection will be notified by the 8th of May and admitted at a live audition to take place in Modena at Teatro Pavarotti on May 31 and June 1 2017. Singers will be evaluated by Mirella Freni.
Candidates for the live auditions must present five arias from the traditional opera repertoire (original language); among them, 3 must be in Italian and all must be performed by heart (it is allowed to include the two arias previously submitted in recording with the application).
Candidates must notify the Theatre with the choice of the arias no more than five days after the letter of admission at the audition.
A piano accompanist for the audition will be provided by the organization.
The candidate must bring a copy of the score for the pianist.
The results of the audition will be notified on July 2nd. Accepted candidates will start classes the following day.
Admitted students will pay a 1,000 fee for the lessons by June 6 on the bank account of Fondazione Teatro Comunale
